COMEDY

 

This topic is probably the closes to my heart.  For the longest time, since before I can recall, I knew that I was attracted to comedy.  Yes, I was attracted to the old classics and relatively new comedians that were emerging.

But, this article will not talk about the movie's or television's ideas of comedy.  It will attempt to discuss the usage and misusage of comedy in everyday interaction in modern day America.

Everyone wants to be funny.  Sometimes more memorable than looks and more stunning than talent, the ability to have and show off a quick wit is the key to many social situations.  Wit and humor can make new friends and influence people.  It can make you a star, at least a 'character', in the group you happen to be in.

At parties, it is 

If your wit is lightning-quick, sharp, and easier to show off than carrying a tuba around, than you will stand out in a crowd.

Or that is the perception . . .
